Night of Choirs

The Night of Choirs is an amateur choir festival launched by the Csíkszerda choir in 2013. Every year, the summer festival fills the Palace District in District VIII with choir concerts, and since 2018, we have also been organizing the Winter Night of Choirs, hosted by the Hungarian House of Music for several years. In 2025, we organized our first end-of-summer festival at a very special venue: the Fiumei Road Cemetery.

The Night of Choirs is a vibrant event in Budapest’s cultural life, a true choir festival where numerous choirs perform and where there is also an opportunity to sing together. Singing together brings joy, inspires, moves and harmonizes – we believe that choral music has a place not only in classical concert halls! In this spirit, Night of Choirs offers a selection of concerts by Hungarian and foreign choirs at several parallel venues, and then, at the climax of the festival, we close the day with singing together, in which not only all the choirs but also the audience participate. We believe that everyone can sing and that the community-building power of choirs can be best experienced at such occasions.

Organizers

The Night of Choirs is organized by volunteers from the Csíkszerda Association, who are also members of the Csíkszerda choir family.

Upcoming Night of Choirs events:

👉🏼  Winter Night of Choirs • February 21, 2026.

Can my choir perform at the Night of Choirs?

The performers for the Night of Choirs festival are selected by our artistic director, Dr. Árpád Tóth. Participants are basically selected on an invitation basis, so there is no open call for applications. However, we are happy to see that more and more choirs are interested in performing at the Night of Choirs, and we are keen to organize a diverse program with new choirs every year. Application process: if you are interested in performing at any of the Night of Choirs events, please contact us at korusokejszakaja@gmail.com, and please attach a short introduction and a sound recording of your choir (it doesn’t have to be a professional recording). We will then contact you to inform you of the artistic director’s decision and provide further information.
